GIANT Interactive Art Workshop with Herve Tullet
On Sunday November 3rd, The GIANT Room officially opened its doors in Chelsea! To kick off the launch of our new hub, we were joined by Herve Tullet, the renowned artist, performer, and children's book author for an exceptional interactive art workshop.
Herve is the creator of more than 75 internationally acclaimed children’s books, including New York Times bestseller, “Press Here”. As an artist, his large-scale interactive workshops for young and old, have taken place in various art centers and museums around the world including The Tate Modern London, Guggenheim Museum, MoMA, MoCA, and LACMA Los Angeles.
After an animated reading of the books by Herve himself, he instructed the kids to grab a cup of paint. Step by step, he walked kids through the creative process. First, asking kids to draw a small dot, then a bigger circle. Next asking to add lines, switch colors, and try something new.
The room was full of energy and excitement, as it was likely the first time both kids and their families were instructed to paint all over the walls and the floors. Throughout the afternoon, kids ran from the paint station back to their creations, with a trail of paint footprints always following behind. After some time, we noticed a few kids tried new painting techniques, like finger painting, splattering, jumping in a blob of paint, or mixing as many colors as they could.
The final result? Take a look for yourself:
We hope you will stop by our Chelsea Hub to check out the amazing artwork and contribute to our collection installation. This month’s theme is “Dream Land”.
