Rainbows Are Popping Up in Brooklyn Windows Thanks To A Group of Thoughtful Kids
Look outside your window and you might see a colorful surprise. Rainbows are popping up in Brooklyn’s residential windows thanks to its youngest community members.
The trend is said to have started in Italy, where children are painting rainbows on sheets with the phrase “Andra Tutto Bene” which translates to “everything's gonna be alright" as a response to the nationwide quarantine. The trend quickly spread to the UK, Canada, Spain and now the US, where kids in Brooklyn are drawing and painting rainbows to put on display in their windows for neighbors and passersby to see.
As the numbers of rainbows increased, one participant created the Rainbow Connection Map encouraging participants to pin their rainbow on the map so local residents follow the map to create their own walking tour or scavenger hunt.
While we’re not at The GIANT Room right now, we wanted to do our part and share some of our participants rainbows through our virtual window. From rainbow laser cut puzzles, to robots, to 3D doodles, to paint and markers, we hope our rainbows will give you some inspiration to create and share your own unique rainbow! And if you’re looking for a challenge, try to create a different rainbow each day.
While there isn’t a universal hashtag, you can follow the global rainbow with #chasetherainbow and #rainbowtrail on Instagram and Twitter.
