GIANT Spotlight: Meet Ciana Malchione
We are beyond excited to welcome Ciana Malchione to The GIANT Room for a special live online workshop focused on the art of storytelling through paper collages!
Watch GIANT creative prompt inspired by her work and join us live online on Feb 23rd at 5pm to learn and create with her.
Ciana is an arts educator and aspiring picture book illustrator. She is originally from a small mushroom-farming town in Pennsylvania but now lives in New York City. She went to Cooper Union to study fine Arts, and currently works as an Artist-Educator at The Children's Museum of the Arts in Manhattan where she makes weekly content for children.
Ciana makes her illustrations in paper-cut collage and is particularly excited by nonfiction stories from history. She has a signature geometric style that she describes as “an ever-changing dance between pattern, texture, and shape.” Here we have posted a few of her illustrations - can you “read” her stories by looking at the collages? Do they remind you of any familiar stories or historical events? Do they inspire you to tell your own stories with paper collages? Grab some paper cut outs, arrange and rearrange them to tell a unique story…
