What Happens in a GIANT Co-Design Workshop?
By now, you’ve probably noticed that here at GIANT we host A LOT of co-design workshops. You might’ve thought at some point “what exactly is a co-design workshop? What can my child and I expect going into one of these workshops?” Here is what you can expect!
We start with introductions, which usually involve sitting in a circle on the floor.
Participants are encouraged to start off by drawing, and then are prompted with a warm-up question along with sharing their names and ages.
If there is already a prototype that has been created, there is a play-testing portion.
Participants will be observed playing the game or interacting with whatever game or tool they will be co-designing if there is already prototype available!
We bust out the arts and crafts and begin brainstorming!
This is where the co-designing really comes in! Kid designers either break out into groups and work with each other to come up with ideas or they pair up with an adult designer to come up with ideas or prototypes.
We come back together and share our ideas!
After we’ve all had some time to brainstorm and create, we come back together and share. Sometimes new ideas are even spawned during the sharing portion as designers become inspired by one another.
