GIANT Spotlight: Meet Dr. Gabby Wild
We are honored to welcome award winning National Geographic author, Dr. Gabby Wild to The GIANT Room, who will join us in our studio for a special FREE book reading and creative STEM workshop featuring her new book “How to Speak Animal”.
Watch GIANT creative prompt inspired by her work and join us in person on Sunday Dec 4th at 10am to learn and create with her.
Dr. Gabby Wild has traveled the world to save animals. Whether it’s pioneering elephant acupuncture, or treating Jane Goodall’s chimps in Uganda, Dr. Wild’s vibrant conservation mission has taken her around the globe to work with zoos, museums, rescues organizations, national parks, top conservation organizations, and universities. In fact, she is the first elephant acupuncturist in the past 3,000 years.
Her non-profit foundation, The Gabby Wild Foundation, is dedicated to the protection of the world’s most endangered creatures and provides complimentary veterinary services for this mission.
Kids often recognize Dr. Wild as the veterinarian from Animal Jam Classic (over 154 million registered users) where she has answered questions from children about wild animals.
Some of her noted recent collaborations: World Wildlife Fund, National Geographic Society, Jane Goodall Institute, Harvard University, Oxford University, The American Museum of Natural History, The Bronx Zoo, Zoological Society of London, Natural History Museum (London), and Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle (Paris).
American-born and raised shortly thereafter in France and later in Boca Raton, FL, when Dr. Wild is not traveling to save animals, she is a veterinary surgeon at Guardian Veterinary Specialists in Brewster, NY and assists at The Bronx Zoo as a wildlife program veterinarian.
She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University, Master of Public Heath from the University of Minnesota, and is also a published genetics researcher.
In addition to her noteworthy veterinary and conservation work, Wild is an eco- and fair- fashion activist. She merges eco-fashion to raise funds for her conservation causes whilst imploring fair wages and safe environments for industry workers. Her sustainable fashion campaigns have been acclaimed at several international fashion weeks, including New York Fashion Week, and have included partnerships such as former Project Runway fashion designers.
Join our in person free workshop on Dec 4th, 10am to 12pm with Dr. Gabby Wild, receive a free copy of her book “How to Speak Animals” and turn The GIANT Room into a wild jungle full of animals who like to speak out! Free event but RSVP is required.
