Moving Monument: Sending out a Signal

DESCRIPTION: Inspired by the work of artist, Kara Walker and composer/musician Jason Moran, we’ll learn about how artists use multi-media sculpture to honor and uplift oppressed voices. We’ll design and build our own monuments by exploring mechanics, symbolism, color theory, sound, and other techniques.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Alex Brinas is a creative on a mission to empower kids from different backgrounds to make together, grow together, and stand tall with creative confidence. With Product Design studies from Stanford and a love for innovative education, Alex has had a mixed journey so far: from crowdfunding a kids' drawing tool to working at a leadership-focused high school in Japan.

MATERIAL NEEDED: Cardboard boxes, arts and crafts material
