At Lunar New Year, it’s tradition to give the gift of a bright, beautiful red envelope (known as 紅包, hóngbāo) to your friends and family. It’s even more special if you make the envelopes yourself! Join this workshop to learn simple origami and paper engineering techniques to make your own envelopes, add unique symbols like a tiger head for the Year of Tiger, and think of special messages and gifts to add in your envelope! We’ll learn about the history behind The Lucky Red Envelope tradition and how to say “Congratulations” in mandarin! That’s the word we say when receiving a Red Envelope! Why? Join us to learn more.
