DESCRIPTION: For kids who dare to think like scientist! Science club participants will explore four different themes throughout the semester: (1) farm to table (nutrition and food science), (2) space, (3) architecture (mechanics and simple machines), and (4) circuits and robotics. This series is a wonderful combination of science learning, experimenting, and building. Dusking “Farm to Table” weeks, we’ll learn about different food sources and the science behind them, create our own dishes, and plan to set up a “Farm to Table” Café. During “Space” weeks, we’ll explore the galaxy with all its planets, moons, and stars, light up constellations, build their own planets, make glow in the dark skies full of stars, space landers, space shuttles, and moon rovers. As for architecture, we’ll recreate wonders of the world like the Pyramids and learn building techniques that have stood the test of time while learning about simple machines to create pulleys for elevators exploring electronics to add lighting, cooling systems, and more.
