WEDNESDAYS: DIY Spa & Science, Fashion & Coding

  • The GIANT Room 550 West 28th Street New York, NY, 10001 United States (map)

DESCRIPTION: For kids who care about self care and dare to design the way they look! From coding micro-controllers, to 3D design in Tinkercad, illustration, sewing, pom pom making, patching, and weaving, participants immerse themselves in the exciting world of fashion. They learn how to make smart attire by coding and attaching micro-controller and sensors to their pieces, and will be challenged to think of their own brand identity and design unique wearables no one has seen before. But fashion is not the only focus! From experimenting to finding the best formula for their bath bombs, face masks, and foot scrubs, to designing their own spa products and gadgets such as DIY hand warmers, soothing lights, or even smart code-able temperature controllers! Participants learn about material science, engage in scientific experimentation, discuss best self-care practices, and learn about micro-controllers and coding as they design smart gadgets for their spa. We’ll dream, learn, design, experiment, meditate, share, and simply have a mindful time together.
