Creative STEM on TUESDAYS - Theme: Travel Like a Maker

  • The GIANT Room 26 West 23rd Street, 4th floor New York, NY, 10010 United States (map)

DESCRIPTION: For kids who dare to travel around the world like a maker!

Pack your DIY suitcase and travel to Japan, build zen gardens, cook sushi and noodles, go to fishing, fabricate kimonos, and indulge in Japan’s pop culture and dragons! Next day, we’ll go to Hawaii and explore volcanos, make our own volcanos with alka seltzer (science meets travel dreams!), dream of a beach and build light houses! On another day, we’ll go to a desert, laser cut models of animals that live there, plant some DIY cactuses and go on stargazing! Europe and its landmarks; North America and it’s fun bridges, amusement parks, and ski resorts; Africa and its exotic nature; Mexico and its rich culture and food; Egypt and its pyramids! We’ll explore it all as we travel around the globe, learn about countries, their capitals, currency, culture and languages they speak, build things, and showcase them to our fellow campers!

Along the way, we’ll dream of our own country, design its flag, unique landmarks, signature dishes, exotic animals, and cool homes, and invite others to travel to our dream country! This program is a wonderful blend of geography, culture, making, and engineering skills.

Kids will be picked up at dismissal time. From 3 to 3:30 they will engage in free play/making time while waiting for all of the participants to arrive.

Recommended for ages 5-8

We provide complimentary pick up from PS 11, PS 33, PS 41, PS 340, Avenues, and Corlears for those who register for the whole semester.
