DESCRIPTION: In this workshop children become designers, coders, and musicians! They will be invited to learn fundamentals in coding (variables, functions, loops, and logic statements), compose and code their own music pieces, fabricate and build unique instruments using littleBits Code Kit, and play music on their newly built instruments!

Recommended for ages 5-12

LEARN ABOUT

  • Building programmable musical instruments

WORKSHOP LENGTH: 1.5 hour + Complimentary 1 hour access to GIANT Open Studio after the workshop

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS: This workshop will be lead by GIANT founders, Dr. Azi Jamalian, and Dr. Jessica Mezei. Azi has a PhD in Cognitive Studies in Education from Columbia University and bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering. Azi loves designing programs and tools for children to learn new things with confidence and joy. Jess has a PhD in Science Education from Columbia University. A former teacher and informal educator, from camps to classrooms, she brings curiosity and care to set the stage for learning.
