DESCRIPTION: For maker kids who want to sew a textile that lights up! Join this workshop for an introduction to e-textiles where you will learn how to stitch, wire and power-up LEDs. We will be working with fun textiles and materials to design a quilt that will light up the night. Participants will learn about simple circuits, conductive thread, batteries, LEDs, and more. Together, we’ll create a large 20+ swatch quilt with lights and exhibit our masterpieces at The GIANT Wave Makers Festival!

WORKSHOP LENGTH: 1.5 hour + Complimentary 1 hour access to GIANT Open Studio after the workshop

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: This workshop will be lead by Dr. Ronah Harris, who is computer science educator, STEM education advocate and founder of Play Pattern LLC an Education Technology consultancy. Ronah is a graduate of the Teachers College, Columbia University and has published and consulted on topics of cognition, creativity, innovation, technology and design.
