Coding a step counter

DESCRIPTION: Wonder how many steps you've taken today? Build your own device and start tracking. Join this workshop to practice coding in scratch and setting up your microbit to actually count steps. Challenge yourself to also design a holder for your step counter that goes with any attire. Is it something you wear on your shoe? wrist? or maybe as a necklace? Up to you how you wear it. This workshop is a wonderful mix engineering, design and fashion.

Recommended for ages 8 to 12

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Hazal Mestci a creative technologist and interactive designer from Turkey. She studied design, communication, technology and film at the Parsons School of Design. With the long lasting sense of pleasure of mixing tradition and innovation, she designs projects reflecting power structures, politics, play and education. She teaches stop-motion animation, storytelling with illustration, 3D printing, collage, sound design, game design, coding and electronics, as well as yoga, arts, math and science.
