DESCRIPTION: For curious kids who care to be mindful! Turn The GIANT Room into a sensational spa lab, set up a fashion runway show, and design a jewelry collection! From experimenting to finding the best formula for your bath bombs, face masks, and foot scrubs, to designing your own spa products and gadgets such as DIY hand warmers, soothing lights, or even smart code-able temperature controllers! Participants learn about material science, engage in scientific experimentation, discuss best self-care practices, learn about micro-controllers and coding as they design smart gadgets for their spa. Participants also plan for their own fashion runway show by designing unique pieces, 3D printing accessories, and making jewelry with all sorts of tools! We’ll dream, learn, design, experiment, meditate, share, and simply have a mindful time together.
Kids will be picked up at dismissal time. From 3 to 3:30 they will engage in free play/making time while waiting for all of the participants to arrive.
Recommended for ages 6-10
We provide complimentary pick up from PS 11, PS 33, PS 41, PS 340, Avenues, and Corlears for those who register for the whole semester.
FORMAT: In Person at GIANT Flatiron Hub (26 West 23rd Street, 4th floor)
DATES: Thursdays at 3:00-5:30pm, from April 20th to June 22nd (skipping 6/8 for a public school holiday)
