Kitchen Science: DIY Play Doh

DESCRIPTION: Gather some simple kitchen materials like flour, food coloring, cream and oil and make your own play dough. Make all the colors of the rainbow, or just your favorite. Learn the simple chemistry behind mixing these ingredients and make all sorts of creations. Best part all your creations are also edible... if you need a snack!

Recommended for ages 5 to 9

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Lauren Mangione, PhD, is a STEM educator with a doctorate in science education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She loves experimenting and designing solutions to real world problems and she loves creating crafts and projects from things she has in her home. She grew up in Denver, Colorado and lives on the Upper West Side with her husband and son.

MATERIAL NEEDED: water, vegetable oil, flour, cups table salt, measuring cups and spoons, Optional: paint if you want to bake your creation and paint it later OR food coloring

PRICE: $20/session OR $75 for 5 sessions (you’ll save $5/session with purchase of a package)
